Science of Motherhood
Kate Haug: Collaborative Practices
Sebastopol Center for the Arts
Ongoing – September 6
SCA presents a retrospective of Bay Area artist Kate Haug.
Haug's work engages the Bay Area's history of technological innovation, political activism and testing of social structures. Working both inside and outside of the gallery, Haug often employs commercial production and enters into unorthodox environments, moving dialogue beyond the gallery walls. Drawing on inspiration from Bay Area conceptual artists such as Lowell Darling, feminist activist the Guerilla Girls and the text based wheatpastes of Jenny Holtzer, Haug uses public space to engage viewers in a spontaneous, transitory way.
Please return to this Blog next week, after I have time to visit SCA and add some pictures detailing this exhibition.
