The San Leandro Art Association is showing at the John O’Lague Galleria at Hayward City Hall! You're invited to the reception on November 3, 5:30-7:30 for a fun celebration of the 26 SLAA artists participating in the exhibition. Easy parking and many restaurants nearby make for an enjoyable evening out.

On Saturday, September 16, 10am to 4pm, the San Leandro Art Association (SLAA) presents ArtFest 2023, an outdoor art show, at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Avenue. You are invited to explore many forms of art by members, on display and for sale: paintings, photography, sculpture and more. Get started on your holiday purchases! Meet the Artists. Buy original works of art. Watch art demos by members. We will also have a free craft table where children of all ages may create a paper butterfly to take home. Enter our Fundraising Raffle to win art, goods and/or services. All money collected from the raffle goes to our grant programs for school art programs and students in the San Leandro School District. She will be showing the technique of applying cold wax as a finishing coat for acrylic paintings. Members will also be displaying artwork for the Artist of the Month Contest. As part of its 65th Anniversary celebration, the SLAA board is offering a free children’s art class at the San Leandro Senior Center, 13909 E. 14th Street. This class is for children five years old and above and will be held on November 12, noon to 3:00pm. Limited to 20, an RSVP is required. We will be providing the supplies for the class and light snacks. The students will be learning about acrylic pour which involves pouring numerous colors of acrylic paint on to a canvas, then swirling the colors to create unique patterns, resulting in a one-of-a-kind art piece. We’re hosting a free art class at the San Leandro Senior Center! The class is for adults and will be led by demo favorite, Sandra Jones. Sandra will be conducting a three-hour class on the construction of a face using pencil and charcoal. This class is designed for any skill level and will include a step-by-step handout that students may refer to during the class and bring home along with their completed projects. By learning simple techniques for creating realistic eyes, nose, mouth and brows, in conjunction with a defined scaffolding, each student will create a unique, imaginary lifelike face - and discover that portraiture is nothing to fear!

This class is designed for any skill level and will include a step-by-step handout that students may refer to during the class and bring home along with their completed projects.
